What is Lymphatic Drainage Massage?
Lymphatic drainage massage is a therapeutic technique that stimulates the flow of lymphatic fluid throughout the body. The lymphatic system plays a crucial role in maintaining the body’s immune system and removing waste and toxins. Lymphatic drainage massage aims to enhance the functioning of the lymphatic system by promoting the movement of lymphatic fluid.
During a lymphatic drainage massage, we use gentle, rhythmic motions and light pressure to stimulate the lymphatic vessels beneath the skin. We then use specific techniques to encourage the movement of lymph fluid towards the lymph nodes, where waste products and toxins can be filtered and eliminated from the body.
The primary benefits of lymphatic drainage massage are:
Detoxification: By promoting the elimination of waste and toxins, lymphatic drainage massage helps cleanse the body and enhance its natural detoxification processes.
Reduction of swelling: Lymphatic drainage massage can be particularly beneficial for patients experiencing swelling or edema, such as those with lymphedema, post-surgery swelling, or fluid retention.
Boosting the immune system: The lymphatic system plays a crucial role in the body’s immune response. By stimulating lymphatic flow, lymphatic drainage massage can enhance immune function and support overall wellness.
Relaxation and stress reduction: Like other forms of massage, lymphatic drainage massage can promote relaxation and reduce stress. The gentle, soothing movements can induce a sense of calm and well-being.
What are fibrosis treatments?
Similar to lymphatic drainage massage, we specialise in reducing fibrosis through massage techniques. This treatment was developed to target hard lumps that have developed after cosmetic surgery. You may have fibrosis if you have thick and hard skin around your scar tissue.
After cosmetic surgery, the skin can often build up adhesions and scars as part of the healing process. However, the body can abnormally increase the production of fibroblast (the main connective tissue cell present in the body) in the form of bands which connect two or more tissues, causing hardness under the skin.
Benefits of Fibrosis Massage Therapy
- Encourages the regeneration of tissue
- Reduces the risk of infection
- Helps to shape the body area
Seroma Treatments
A seroma can occur in an organ, tissue, or body cavity. After certain cosmetic procedures, fluid can enter the surgical area, especially if the site is a cavity. This fluid is part of your body’s natural healing process, which is initiated because your body’s tissues need to be healed after surgery. We can aspirate the seroma using a sterile method with a needle and syringe.
